We're pretty optimistic about our business plan.
But I'm pretty cautious and reflective about the
timing and everything with respect to it.

may see something they like and order
it from the warehouse. The item [size,
color, etc.] might not be in the store.
That strategy will be important to us in
2013. It's what I mean by being able to
be a multi-channel retailer. It's about the
customer experience.

Retail Group successful?
Our greatest resource is our people.
That's what everybody says because it
is true. Our talent pool enables us to do
everything we do. So, as a leader, I am
continuously looking to add to our talent
base here in the company. I work very
hard to make sure that vision is clear;
that their roles are understood; that they
understand where they fit; that our strategy makes sense to them. As a leader,
you can't tie everybody to your wrist and
watch what they are doing. You have to
empower people. People like to have
fulfilling roles. They like to be part of the
success. They want to feel meaningful.
How do you do that? You give direction and vision, and you hope that it all
settles in.
What should people expect
from the brand moving forward?
They should expect us to continue to
roll out this strategy and enter markets
that we haven't been in. They should
expect to see a DXL store coming to their
market soon. It will be in the same class
and vintage as what we have been doing
– 8,00 square feet, a wonderful environment for men to do their wardrobe
shopping, a customized experience that
they haven't had before – one that will
help meet their lifestyle activities in
a fashionable way.
