Healy's close friend, and fellow RCA Past President, Tom Eckinger, CEO of Eckinger Construction Company, says of Healy, "Jim and I go back at least 30 years, frst as competitors in business, then into a long-lasting friendship. I especially enjoyed our time spent serving on the Board together as we were able to spend more time socially. On one particular occasion, we were playing golf in Florida when Jim needed golf balls. At the beginning of the round, he purchased a dozen balls. After an adventuresome front nine in which he donated balls to several lakes and one person's balcony (we're still not sure if the glass doors survived), Jim went into the pro shop and purchased a second dozen to get him through the back nine. He and I always had a lot of laughs on the golf course, usually at ourselves. Jim has always been someone I could count on for help with problems and sometimes just to talk things out." If he was not in the retail construction industry, Healy said he would be involved in local politics, helping residents of the Chicago Bears fans Kathy & Jim Healy community and developing programs that would beneft seniors and children in the area. "Something that people may not know about me, is that I was elected for three (four-year) terms as an Alderman on the City Council," mentioned Healy. Where might we fnd Healy in his free time? Fishing, plain and simple! "Fishing is my guilty pleasure: spending a lot of time in Florida and drifting on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico enjoying the warm sunny days. In my free time, you'll fnd me fshing for freshwater fsh in the Midwest or saltwater fsh in Florida," Healy said. Jim and Kathy, who have been married 35 years, have two grown children and one grandchild. Healy is another inspiring gentleman in our retail construction world. He's given his time, talent, and knowledge to better our industry and build relationships among friendly competitors, retailers, and suppliers, and we thank him for that.
