on your mark... 30 CommerCial ConstruCtion & renovation — January : February 2014 Getting to know Matt Poske Most rewarding part of your job The best part is having the opportunity to continuously enrich the Finish Line experience. Whether we're shortening the construction timeline to give the customer a new store experience faster, piloting new concepts or entering new markets – it's a new challenge every day to ensure we have the latest and greatest for our customers. Best advice you ever received Do what's right 100 percent of the time. That was the tagline for my father's business growing up, and as simple as it seems it isn't always the norm. As long as I'm doing what I believe is right for the customer and Finish Line, everybody wins. Best thing a client ever said to you It's always a great feeling to be able to take someone's vision and make it a reality. One time in particular I was told that I hit it out of the park – from every major point down to the smallest detail. That's a goal you aspire to reach every time. Three strongest traits any leader should have Being a great listener is the most important trait of a good leader. Listening to your customers, employees, vendors, competitors, etc., is crucial to understanding what's going well or not so well and where we need to focus efforts. Second, embracing change and having the ability to lead an organization through change is both diffcult and underrated. It is also very important to be a strong communicator and have the ability to articulate your vision. The more informed you are as a team, the more successful you will be. True key to success I think the true indicator of success is deeply rooted in developing your people. You should always be grooming your successor, because if you're not doing that then you're not moving forward. Favorite vacation spot Caribbean – St. Lucia is such a beautiful place, great beaches Down time hobby I enjoy playing golf and being with family, especially my wife, Kristin, my two daughters, and our German shepherd mix dog. » Matt Poske Director, Store Development Finish Line What is today's customer looking for? Our customers are looking for premium, innovative product available to them through our omni-channel platforms. What should people expect from your brand moving forward? With an omni-channel strategy leading the way, Finish Line will continue to position itself as a preferred conduit for deliver- ing the product innovation that is fueling consumer excitement in the marketplace. We will continue to refne our tactics and step up our game to move forward in stride with our customers as their buying habits evolve and as industry trends change, as they always do.
