RESTAURANTS ■ SHONEY'S Shoney's aims to open about 50 of the fast-casual Shoney's On The Go units during the next five years. ■ DUNKIN' DONUTS Northern Star Restaurant Management, which has been run- ning Dunkin' Donuts franchises in the New York counties of Erie, Chautauqua and portions of Niagara, plans to open eight new locations in western New York next year, and a total of 20 new sites there over the next few years. The chain also is slat- ed for significant expansion in Texas. New franchise part- ners include MM Donuts LLC in Houston, and the Jerry Jones Family and Troy Aikman in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. ■ DEL TACO Del Taco has completed a 20-unit development agreement with Larry Blumberg & Associates, a hospitality operator based in Dothan, Ala. The agreement will bring the Del Taco brand to new markets in Alabama and northern Florida. ■ JOHNNY ROCKETS Johnny Rockets franchisee Richard Riva has opened the first JR's Burger Grill, which will test a quickservice concept with a more limited, lower priced menu. If the concept does well, the chain will consider making it available to other franchisees in units where quickservice makes sense.
